Welcome to Eluvio's Test Drive Meme! Whether you'd like to try out a character in the setting, get some samples for your application, or just mess around and have fun, this is the place to do it.

If you're getting samples together, remember that you need at least four comments made by you in the thread for it to count.

Pick any of the scenarios below or make up any of your own. This is space! There are infinite worlds and possibilities. If you'd like to thread out hijacking a ship, do it! If you'd like to get stuck on a remote planet with only one other person for company, do it! Take the wheel and guide your own adventure!

➣ SCENARIO 001.

Welcome to Oros! It's no vacation destination and you're in for an interesting ride. While the planet is big, there's not much to explore beyond the vast, stretching reaches of a boiling hot, red desert. Which means it's fun for the whole family!

There are hostile aliens on the planet who aren't taking kindly to you, an alien on their planet. They're stronger than you and you're out numbered. Likely out gunned, too. But, really, good luck! You'll be coming back alive.

For more information on the planet and things that may be found there, please go here and give it a read! There you can also find the missions completed in game should you need any additional prompt. Whatever you can imagine that fits with the setting itself works!

[ PLEASE NOTE: Threads taking place on Oros cannot be used as game canon, as they required prior signups to participate, but the setting is provided so that you can get an idea of just one of the kinds of events that will be in game! ]

➣ SCENARIO 002.

Congratulations! You've been selected to be part of the team being sent down to the planet around which the fleet is currently orbiting. Initial scans of the surface show that oxygen is in abundance, temperatures support carbon-based life-forms, and there aren't any large quantities of poisonous gases that might pose problems. Your mission is to secure a landing site, set up a camp, and locate edible flora and fauna. Stores aboard ship are running a bit low on food and it's projected to be another three weeks before the fleet reaches a station large enough to replenish supplies. Once identified, larger parties will be sent to the surface to help hunt and gather.

The good news is, scans show fruits, vegetables, and animals are plentiful.

The bad news is that once your ship lands on the planet, everything goes sideways.

An unexpected ion storm sweeps through the solar system, shorting out communications between the fleet and the team. It wreaks havoc with the electronics planet-side too, temporarily shorting out the smaller craft's navigational array. Until it passes, about six standard days, you're stuck down there. And the bountiful harvest isn't without its dangers.

Even the most docile looking animal will attack. Sampling the fruits and vegetables will cause temporary paralysis, hallucinations, and psychosis. Inhaling pollen will bring out a person's baser instincts.

The planet itself is predatory, you see. Everything on it has evolved to entice visitors from nearby systems and kill them. And the fleet's unwittingly taken the bait.

➣ SCENARIO 003.

It's been a rough day. Everything's going wrong. Machines are breaking down everywhere. The owner of your favorite business wasn't there today and the store was closed when you stopped by to pick something up. A coworker didn't show up for work, leaving you with an interested workload.

And now it feels like you're being watched.

It started about ten minutes ago, but whenever you turn to look, there's no one there. The feeling doesn't go away, though. No matter where you are, it feels like eyes are watching.

Did you hear something? A quiet, scuffling scratching sound just for a second? Maybe you did. Maybe you didn't.

But it came from the misshapen monstrosity that just punched a hole through the bulkhead right beside you. The creature makes a low, wet gargling noises and darts toward you: six to seven feet tall, vaguely humanoid, and covered in strange growths over which is stretched bubbling grayish-brown skin.

Maybe you notice tatters of familiar clothing hanging off of it. Or there's enough left of its eyes to recognize the shape and color. Or maybe something about the noises it's making sound familiar. It's your missing coworker and it looks like the unfortunate soul ran afoul of that weird slimy creature the science team brought back from that jungle planet a month ago.

The good news: you can kill it.

The bad news: it can kill you.

It's fast, it's hungry, and it reproduces at an alarming rate. A single bite can transfer the parasites in its bloodstream to you. Then you'll be just like your buddy. And that shop owner you like so much. And all of the people on Level 12. And...

➣ SCENARIO 004.

You're welcomed and encouraged to make up your own scenarios. As you can see, there will be a wide variety of the types of things your character will encounter in this game. So feel free to make your starters as horrific, sexy, lighthearted, action-packed, or slice of life as you'd like. Make up a planet, make up a location on the Eluvio, make up a ship in the fleet, fight off a zombie alien invasion, there's no limit to what you can do on the TDM.

[ Pity the fool who thinks of them as easy targets due to their missing limbs, they'll be in for a nasty surprise. They're both still a force to be reckoned with, alone and even more so together. (If only because together, arms can be borrowed to make seals with.) ]

No. [ C'mon Sasuke, what do you take him for? ] But I'm bored and I figured I could help you look for it. Are you trying to gather more information about this place?

[ That's ... literally the only reason he can fathom going to the bookstore here for. ]

It's more than that. [ With another pause inserted here for him to drink down that water, buying himself a little bit of time to organize the words as he likes in his head. Naruto's a terrible speaker, sure, but Sasuke isn't much better at it. ]

I want to do some research to see how other worlds and other nations govern themselves. I want to learn as much as I can while I'm here.

[ Excuse you, his noble words have swayed the hearts of many.

Except he still sucks at articulating thoughts and feelings and he's the worst at explaining even the most basic things, but whatever.

Sasuke's answer surprises him and definitely catches his attention wholly. He doesn't question the 'while I'm here' because he himself is fully convinced they'll find a way back home regardless of what the people here have told him. No, it's the bit about governing and the remaining interest it implies that piques his curiosity. It's not like he's afraid Sasuke will still go back to wanting a bloody revolution — that matter has been settled — but it does beg the question ... ]

What for?

[ It's a gentle prod to see what Sasuke is planning, asked out of a plain curiosity that's utterly devoid of any suspicion. ]

[ Look, he's just referencing your own words here.

The fact that there's no judgment in the question helps, though his resolve is no longer so childishly driven that he'd shut Naruto out even if there were. He'd say it was justified... but expecting a lack of acceptance from Naruto of all people does him a disservice. He's always been more than steadfast when it comes to Sasuke. ]

My previous idea of a hokage was too limited. It caused me to fight you, as my lack of understanding about the village caused me to fight others.

My role won't be to lead anyone; I see that now. But I'll still be involved in Konoha's restructuring. To that end, and for the next generation... I need to understand our world. Understanding others may help. So I'll read.

[ A pause, then, before tacking on something else to show that he still has some personality hidden beneath that ever-serious exterior: ] One of us should and I don't see it being you.

[ Shhh, his talk no jutsu is still Very Effective. Somehow. Even though he can barely string a coherent sentence together.

If Sasuke were telling anyone else from Konoha this, he would likely be scoffed at after his previous (more destructive) ambitions. Fortunately this is Naruto and he has nothing if not unwavering faith in his friend and his own ability to knock some sense into him whenever needed. Just hearing Sasuke say that he wants to be involved in Konoha's rebuilding at all makes him happy and that he wants to try understanding others better makes him doubly so.

It shows in the fond smile that spreads across his face and he wants to encourage Sasuke on this new path, to tell him that it's a good idea and maybe crack a joke about how he'll have to fight Shikamaru if he wants to become his advisor or throw in the playful suggestion that he be part of his ANBU when Naruto becomes Hokage. ]

[ But Sasuke has to go ruin it with that little taunt tacked on and Naruto being Naruto, he can only see it as a challenge. ]

I can totally read too, y'know!!

[ AHAHAHA yeah, no. He's only fooling himself here.

But challenge accepted anyway. He's getting up with more fervor than the task of finding a bookstore would ever normally inspire. ]

Let's go!

[ ... this is the most over-the-top defense of a person's literacy he's ever witnessed. But then again, it's Naruto. Everything is over-the-top. ]

There's no point trying to stop you and I get what I want anyway. [ That's as much of an agreement as Naruto is going to get as Sasuke too rises to his feet, bottle pitched with perfect accuracy into the nearby recycling receptacle. He chooses their direction, opposite the line of shops he's already perused, while clearly expecting to be followed.

This is how their relationship goes. ]

I'm not buying you anything or entertaining you when you become bored.

[ That's more than enough agreement for him. Naruto flashes a grin that has 'damn right' written all over it because of course there's no point in trying to stop him, it's on now.

In his enthusiasm, he's already started in the wrong direction and he has to turn around again and briefly quicken his pace to fall into step next to Sasuke. ]

I can buy my own stuff and entertain myself just fine.

[ Thank you very much.

Even if the reading thing doesn't work out, this way he gets to explore a little more of the ship too. The bookstore search is a good excuse to look around at all the shops and restaurants more intently which is exactly what he does until something familiar catches his eye. ]

Oh! Have you tried that BBQ place? Their food is so good!

[ .... easily distracted much? ]

[ Just walking in silence with him is a surreal experience... and not because Naruto is actually being quiet for once. He feels like he's aged a lifetime in the years that they spent apart from one another and for good reason, but now here they are at one another's sides like it was just yesterday they were walking together and complaining about being given another lame mission.

Ah, there he goes. Interrupting Sasuke's introspection. Like clockwork. ]

No. I've been making my way down the line of restaurants here. Most... are disappointing. I can't say I trust your palate anyway.
