// TEST DRIVE_

Welcome to Eluvio's Test Drive Meme! Whether you'd like to try out a character in the setting, get some samples for your application, or just mess around and have fun, this is the place to do it.

If you're getting samples together, remember that you need at least four comments made by you in the thread for it to count.

Pick any of the scenarios below or make up any of your own. This is space! There are infinite worlds and possibilities. If you'd like to thread out hijacking a ship, do it! If you'd like to get stuck on a remote planet with only one other person for company, do it! Take the wheel and guide your own adventure!

The most important thing is to have fun!

➣ SCENARIO 001.

Welcome to Oros! It's no vacation destination and you're in for an interesting ride. While the planet is big, there's not much to explore beyond the vast, stretching reaches of a boiling hot, red desert. Which means it's fun for the whole family!

There are hostile aliens on the planet who aren't taking kindly to you, an alien on their planet. They're stronger than you and you're out numbered. Likely out gunned, too. But, really, good luck! You'll be coming back alive.

For more information on the planet and things that may be found there, please go here and give it a read! There you can also find the missions completed in game should you need any additional prompt. Whatever you can imagine that fits with the setting itself works!

[ PLEASE NOTE: Threads taking place on Oros cannot be used as game canon, as they required prior signups to participate, but the setting is provided so that you can get an idea of just one of the kinds of events that will be in game! ]

➣ SCENARIO 002.

Congratulations! You've been selected to be part of the team being sent down to the planet around which the fleet is currently orbiting. Initial scans of the surface show that oxygen is in abundance, temperatures support carbon-based life-forms, and there aren't any large quantities of poisonous gases that might pose problems. Your mission is to secure a landing site, set up a camp, and locate edible flora and fauna. Stores aboard ship are running a bit low on food and it's projected to be another three weeks before the fleet reaches a station large enough to replenish supplies. Once identified, larger parties will be sent to the surface to help hunt and gather.

The good news is, scans show fruits, vegetables, and animals are plentiful.

The bad news is that once your ship lands on the planet, everything goes sideways.

An unexpected ion storm sweeps through the solar system, shorting out communications between the fleet and the team. It wreaks havoc with the electronics planet-side too, temporarily shorting out the smaller craft's navigational array. Until it passes, about six standard days, you're stuck down there. And the bountiful harvest isn't without its dangers.

Even the most docile looking animal will attack. Sampling the fruits and vegetables will cause temporary paralysis, hallucinations, and psychosis. Inhaling pollen will bring out a person's baser instincts.

The planet itself is predatory, you see. Everything on it has evolved to entice visitors from nearby systems and kill them. And the fleet's unwittingly taken the bait.

➣ SCENARIO 003.

It's been a rough day. Everything's going wrong. Machines are breaking down everywhere. The owner of your favorite business wasn't there today and the store was closed when you stopped by to pick something up. A coworker didn't show up for work, leaving you with an interested workload.

And now it feels like you're being watched.

It started about ten minutes ago, but whenever you turn to look, there's no one there. The feeling doesn't go away, though. No matter where you are, it feels like eyes are watching.

Did you hear something? A quiet, scuffling scratching sound just for a second? Maybe you did. Maybe you didn't.

But it came from the misshapen monstrosity that just punched a hole through the bulkhead right beside you. The creature makes a low, wet gargling noises and darts toward you: six to seven feet tall, vaguely humanoid, and covered in strange growths over which is stretched bubbling grayish-brown skin.

Maybe you notice tatters of familiar clothing hanging off of it. Or there's enough left of its eyes to recognize the shape and color. Or maybe something about the noises it's making sound familiar. It's your missing coworker and it looks like the unfortunate soul ran afoul of that weird slimy creature the science team brought back from that jungle planet a month ago.

The good news: you can kill it.

The bad news: it can kill you.

It's fast, it's hungry, and it reproduces at an alarming rate. A single bite can transfer the parasites in its bloodstream to you. Then you'll be just like your buddy. And that shop owner you like so much. And all of the people on Level 12. And...

➣ SCENARIO 004.

You're welcomed and encouraged to make up your own scenarios. As you can see, there will be a wide variety of the types of things your character will encounter in this game. So feel free to make your starters as horrific, sexy, lighthearted, action-packed, or slice of life as you'd like. Make up a planet, make up a location on the Eluvio, make up a ship in the fleet, fight off a zombie alien invasion, there's no limit to what you can do on the TDM.

Zaveid | Tales of Berseria

[On the plus side, when you come from a place where people turn into horrible monsters all the time, your coworker getting infested with space parasites isn't that weird. Zaveid's moved right past being shocked to fighting the thing. He sends fierce gusts of wind at the creature to push it back. The shimmer and snap of his weapon, small weights on the end of wires, would barely be noticeable if they didn't pack more of a punch than you'd expect. Zaveid moves them like they were extensions of his own arms.]

Shit, stay down already, would ya!?
[He seems to be fighting a defensive battle, for all his strength. Almost seems like he's holding back.]

4a
[Zaveid isn't normally one to let other people tell him what to do, but given the sheer absurdity of his current situation... he's decided he should at least play nice with the crew of the Eluvio. After all, they're the ones who've managed to fly this contraption through outer space. So he's put on that weird uniform of theirs. That said, the way he's got it unzipped all the way to his navel... is definitely not up to the usual dress code. He's hanging aroun the food court, picking at the stretchy fabric and frowning.]

I don't have anything against tight clothing, but did they really have to make this so... clingy?
[They don't have spandex in medieval fantasy land, apparently.]

4b
[When you've stared up at the night sky for 600 odd years, actually being out among the stars is pretty wild. The hangar affords a good view, since ships come in and out from there, so Zaveid can often be found down there, staring out at the blackness of space and the stars far off. Every time, a look of quiet awe is present on his face.

Or, if you keep a ship in the hangar, you might get a significantly more annoying Zaveid poking around your craft while you're doing maintenance, tugging at anything that isn't pinned down.]

Man, I'll never understand how you get these things to fly, big hunks of metal like this.
[He's clearly fascinated, but also definitely getting in the way.]

Y'know why they're not staying down? (a sing-song voice from behind zaveid and a sharp whistle of metal by a distance from his ear, the narrow knife with a looped end finding a clean home in the rolling eye of the latest creature to get back to its feet,) Because you're not keeping them down.

(suigetsu is quick to leap past, planting bare feet against the infected man's midriff, riding him down onto the floor with a swipe of his blade. its the arc of toxic blood that's whipped from the kunai that confirms his first kill of this section of the ship, light pants staining miserably with what looks like countless more.

he flips it showily, catching it on his finger before pointing it directly at his "teammate".
)

That's a nifty weapon you've got, but... If you get bit 'cause you're afraid to finish the job, I'll clean you up too...
siegfreed: (I'M GONNA WRECK IT)

nothing to be sorry for my froode

[personal profile] siegfreed 2017-02-15 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Despite the assistance, Zaveid looks, if anything, more annoyed. The vague hypothetical threat doesn't bother him, of course, rather.]

What'd you do that for!? [Yelling, as the pendulum completes it's last arc and Zaveid catches it in his hand without even looking. Nifty weapon indeed.]

They were obviously just infected with something, you didn't have to go an kill them! The hell is wrong with you?
[This isn't daemonblight, there's no excuse of "you can't cure it" to excuse just killing them, in his book. If they'd just incapacitated the things, surely the science team could have fixed it...]

Hahaha, way to take the moral high ground. (another goody two-shoes, great.) That's how people die, y'know, I did you a favour.

(the urge to confirm his kill is given into, the kunai finding another home buried into the base of the thing's warped skull.)

Wanna guess how fast they're spreading?

(well, he's been down on the lower decks already, not even close to the shopping centre, and the place is filthy with them. stepping off of the body with a tsk at the foreign blood on his hands, suigetsu ignores it and stretches his arms out in an expansive gesture as if to encompass the entire mess. embracing it.)

Us or them... If you're gonna get in the way, you'll just cause me more trouble...

I KNEW IT

[personal profile] siegfreed 2017-02-18 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
[He's far from a goody two-shoes, honestly. He likes to fight, people tend to equate that with being a killer and it pisses him off a little. Obviously this isn't the problem here, though. He doesn't know the answer to the question, but can infer from the mere fact it's being asked in this context that the answer is "really fucking fast." He doesn't like killing, but it's hard to justify sitting out when they're all stuck on this ship together.]

Damnit... [Readying his weapon again, still deeply annoyed.]

You really think I'm just gonna sit on my ass and let other people do the fighting for me?
liquidate: take care to tell on me for the cause, i know i need to feel released (pic#11036281)

[personal profile] liquidate 2017-02-19 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
No, (the guy seems trained well enough to keep himself alive, but for how long if these things keep getting up, biting people, and reproducing at an alarming rate?) but you're about to let other people do the killing for you.

(shucking the kunai, content with his work, before surveying the few stragglers.)

Unless you're gonna help me out. Then I'll save half for you.

Um... [ He's kind of just standing around as the guest entertains himself. ] I don't think ships can actually fly on their own.

[ Time to get on his tiptoes to try to peer over the other's shoulder to get a look at what- no, no, Zaveid's too tall. Chihiro's soon flat on his feet again as he draws his hands together. ]

I think rockets are able to move ships despite there being no air out there. Maybe the same laws just don't apply here with all the different ships but... I dunno how that could be. The outside has to be the same, after all.

[ Sora had gotten relatively used to clothing or form changes within the different worlds he's visited, but none have ever been this oddly tight on him (it's less easy to move in than his normal baggy clothes, but he'll get used to it — he's been a merman and a lion cub before, after all). Still, he's at least going along with it! It looks kind of cool, in a way.

But with the way Zaveid's wearing his ...

He crosses his arms. ]

You're barely even wearing it.

[He doesn't want to engage in conversation with some weirdo with white hair. He doesn't even want to be here, but given they're going on a mission soon and he doesn't trust anyone with making sure the ship is prepped before flight...

He's being forced to listen to this guy chatting to himself.
And Reaper being Reaper--he just has to reply. Because he gotta.]

Do you even understand how flight works.

It's basic, so long as you understand basic shit like thrust and gravity. Even watching birds will give you a damn idea about it.
