// TEST DRIVE MEME_
// TEST DRIVE_ ![]() Welcome to Eluvio's Test Drive Meme! Whether you'd like to try out a character in the setting, get some samples for your application, or just mess around and have fun, this is the place to do it. If you're getting samples together, remember that you need at least four comments made by you in the thread for it to count. Pick any of the scenarios below or make up any of your own. This is space! There are infinite worlds and possibilities. If you'd like to thread out hijacking a ship, do it! If you'd like to get stuck on a remote planet with only one other person for company, do it! Take the wheel and guide your own adventure! The most important thing is to have fun! ➣ SCENARIO 001. ![]() Welcome to Oros! It's no vacation destination and you're in for an interesting ride. While the planet is big, there's not much to explore beyond the vast, stretching reaches of a boiling hot, red desert. Which means it's fun for the whole family! There are hostile aliens on the planet who aren't taking kindly to you, an alien on their planet. They're stronger than you and you're out numbered. Likely out gunned, too. But, really, good luck! You'll be coming back alive. For more information on the planet and things that may be found there, please go here and give it a read! There you can also find the missions completed in game should you need any additional prompt. Whatever you can imagine that fits with the setting itself works! [ PLEASE NOTE: Threads taking place on Oros cannot be used as game canon, as they required prior signups to participate, but the setting is provided so that you can get an idea of just one of the kinds of events that will be in game! ] ➣ SCENARIO 002. ![]() Congratulations! You've been selected to be part of the team being sent down to the planet around which the fleet is currently orbiting. Initial scans of the surface show that oxygen is in abundance, temperatures support carbon-based life-forms, and there aren't any large quantities of poisonous gases that might pose problems. Your mission is to secure a landing site, set up a camp, and locate edible flora and fauna. Stores aboard ship are running a bit low on food and it's projected to be another three weeks before the fleet reaches a station large enough to replenish supplies. Once identified, larger parties will be sent to the surface to help hunt and gather. The good news is, scans show fruits, vegetables, and animals are plentiful. The bad news is that once your ship lands on the planet, everything goes sideways. An unexpected ion storm sweeps through the solar system, shorting out communications between the fleet and the team. It wreaks havoc with the electronics planet-side too, temporarily shorting out the smaller craft's navigational array. Until it passes, about six standard days, you're stuck down there. And the bountiful harvest isn't without its dangers. Even the most docile looking animal will attack. Sampling the fruits and vegetables will cause temporary paralysis, hallucinations, and psychosis. Inhaling pollen will bring out a person's baser instincts. The planet itself is predatory, you see. Everything on it has evolved to entice visitors from nearby systems and kill them. And the fleet's unwittingly taken the bait. ➣ SCENARIO 003. ![]() It's been a rough day. Everything's going wrong. Machines are breaking down everywhere. The owner of your favorite business wasn't there today and the store was closed when you stopped by to pick something up. A coworker didn't show up for work, leaving you with an interested workload. And now it feels like you're being watched. It started about ten minutes ago, but whenever you turn to look, there's no one there. The feeling doesn't go away, though. No matter where you are, it feels like eyes are watching. Did you hear something? A quiet, scuffling scratching sound just for a second? Maybe you did. Maybe you didn't. But it came from the misshapen monstrosity that just punched a hole through the bulkhead right beside you. The creature makes a low, wet gargling noises and darts toward you: six to seven feet tall, vaguely humanoid, and covered in strange growths over which is stretched bubbling grayish-brown skin. Maybe you notice tatters of familiar clothing hanging off of it. Or there's enough left of its eyes to recognize the shape and color. Or maybe something about the noises it's making sound familiar. It's your missing coworker and it looks like the unfortunate soul ran afoul of that weird slimy creature the science team brought back from that jungle planet a month ago. The good news: you can kill it. The bad news: it can kill you. It's fast, it's hungry, and it reproduces at an alarming rate. A single bite can transfer the parasites in its bloodstream to you. Then you'll be just like your buddy. And that shop owner you like so much. And all of the people on Level 12. And... ➣ SCENARIO 004. ![]() You're welcomed and encouraged to make up your own scenarios. As you can see, there will be a wide variety of the types of things your character will encounter in this game. So feel free to make your starters as horrific, sexy, lighthearted, action-packed, or slice of life as you'd like. Make up a planet, make up a location on the Eluvio, make up a ship in the fleet, fight off a zombie alien invasion, there's no limit to what you can do on the TDM. |

I had a plan for soup and that's as far as I got with it. I'm more of an improv guy. I'm sure we'll pass a good place as soon as we get outta here! I mean, it'd be genius placement to put a restaurant right outside of a fitness centre. So the fatties will give up at the door.

Forget it. I'll pick out a place. [ Pausing for a moment, focusing on their footsteps... ah. ]
Shoes.

(if you fuck this up, you're irredeemable.
suigetsu sighs heavily at the nitpicking.)
You think since they kidnapped us, we'd be allowed to wear whatever we wanted. Still, I figure you're a stickler and would try to boss me around anyway...

"Kidnapped" makes it sound intentioned. We still don't know if that's the case or how much of the video we were shown was honest.

(don't discount suigetsu's guesses, they're usually pretty accurate......)
So when months down the line we're all sitting around wondering why we're science experiments again, I get to say "I told you so" and everyone's gonna hate my guts for being right. But estranging you all will be worth it.

[ His tone remains as steady as ever even if the idea is one that bothers him more than he cares to admit. Still, at least that'd hint at someone controlling their way home as opposed to not having one yet. ]

Obviously I'm not wishing anything like that. I'm just prepared for the eventuality. (that's like, the same thing suigetsu... anyway, he taps the toes of his newly-applied footwear on the floor before trotting to catch up the two strides he fell back.)
Do you even know where we're going?

Very, very muted amazement. As muted as he is over lunch when he's treated to one of the least satisfying bowls of soup in his life -- is it entirely broth? At least his teammate appears to be enjoying himself, but Sasuke uses the completion of his own bowl to excuse himself back to his room. He has a few pilfered snacks waiting there to supplement what he's just been subjected to, after all, and it's an equally good opportunity for him to get in some quiet exercise... alone.
He doesn't expect to be bothered by Suigetsu for some time, after all. There's an entire ship for him to explore; Sasuke's one-armed push-ups are far less entertaining. ]

the door is forgotten, bypassed, liquid gushing between seams of metal without so much as a knock.
to think he'd be left in the dark like this, overshadowed by the problems of everyone else around him so oppressively that no one could spare him an inkling of thought when it came to the edo tensei. sasuke of all people could understand and chose not to, their common ground a goal centred around brothers who wanted to be there for them and went about it the wrong way — death, betrayal, or both (and that's what he thought for so many years, how could he die without him?).
the anger is uncharacteristic, having made everyone accustomed to a smile, a sneer, a goofy comic relief of an attitude through whatever feeling came his way. through being imprisoned, being abandoned, being imprisoned again, being abandoned again, it all stacks up and forming fingers tighten into fists.)
Heeey, sorry Sasuke, (low, forcing a crack of a smirk,) did I interrupt your workout?

He draws legs beneath him in a fluid shift back up onto his feet then, stretching to full height. ]
That's not important. What is it? [ asked as he wipes his brow and crosses the room for a drink of water, another bottle tossed Suigetsu's way out of sheer habit. ]
tl;dr sasuke wank
Kakashi's here, did y'know? I had a chat with him. It was about the war— (no, before that, it had to have been as there were so many chances for sasuke to discuss it with him,) no, when I was imprisoned with Juugo in the Land of Iron. Where you left us...
(one strike, one thing that pisses him off. how many times has he helped sasuke? from fighting with him to saving his life to spying for him to bringing him answers and a means to some kind of end. being rescued from orochimaru then spat on months later with orochimaru's revival; he can't use it as an excuse anymore. this conversation has been lingering in the back of his head for some time now, always brushing it off because why create more problems for himself? but mangetsu...
learning about mangetsu was the last straw, visibly shaken by the news, expression the real reason he shared the name "kijin no sarai" with his dead brother.)
Mangetsu was brought back with the Edo Tensei and recalled all Seven Swords! Kabuto did that, the one I ran into twice after meeting up with you. (his voice raises, arm whipping out to the side.) I crossed over three countries to bring you the scroll I found so that you could take it without so much as a "thank you" and talk to the four previous Hokage!
(you, you, you. his point is being made very clear. it's all he's ever cared about.)
You didn't tell me. You all just forgot. Every single one of my goals — my brother — was so close I could touch them and no one fucking told me!
sasuke wank aka naruto shippuuden
It's tempting to activate the sharingan but he doesn't actually expect an attack. Not yet. ]
Calm down.
What the hell are you angry about? That I didn't tell you about Mangetsu? I never saw Mangetsu, or any of the Swordsmen. Before I engaged Kabuto I was still underground with Zetsu. How much news do you think reached me there? [ He pauses, taking a short breath of his own. ]
... I didn't know about your brother, Suigetsu.
i like my title better
(an arm whipping up, hand poised in a throwback to the very same threat from when they first stood together on equal ground.)
Do you think I'm so stupid as to think you couldn't after that? When you were with Kabuto and I brought you the scroll that changed your life? You didn't tell me then that Kabuto used the Edo Tensei. I didn't know a thing until we were in Konoha and, at that time, I thought Orochimaru was the only one who used it! (snapped with a jerk of his hand, chin raising,) Not only that time, but when first arrived on the battlefield even though it was too damn late. And after that, when Kabuto was healing you!
(violet eyes wide with indignation, a creak of still-contained pressure from the washroom close by.)
You're skimming over quite a lot of that, Sasuke!
yeah me too
[ It's baffling for him to even consider when juxtaposed with what actually happened, and the mix of irritation and indignation briefly show on his features. ]
If I'd known what Kabuto was doing and who he was planning to target with the Edo Tensei, like your brother, then I'd have killed him before he could resurrect mine. [ The words are punctuated with a subtle but poignant surge of chakra, a gravitational push that's meant to unsteady him. A warning. ]
can sasuke still turn purple
teeth baring at the push, standing against it with only an inch of ground lost, suigetsu keeps his arm and deadly gun of a hand steadier than ever.)
You were never focused on the war, not for the reasons you like to tell everybody. (comes the bitten retort, knowing it was all out of some skewed obligation to a village that condemned both brothers and the confusion surrounding the entire thing,) But this isn't about you, for once. I'm tired of talking about you. And after what I said I didn't even owe you was paid back tenfold, you still really think the same goes now?
Don't you owe me?
(a step forward, head cocking to the side.)
You said you'd help me and you've done nothing but fuck me over. You even revived Orochimaru after all I did to support you, the guy who imprisoned me for over three years, when I warned you and warned you — for your own sake! (a low hiss from the washroom, the creaking becoming a crack as the tap snaps and water pools onto the floor.) I should try to kill you right now...
Wouldn't you like to be right about how stupid you think I am?!
no that never happened
As much as he wants to lash out over the first comment he holds himself back; responding to the jibe with any kind of self-righteous defense would end in violence and would only serve to prove Suigetsu's point. ]
... so that's what you think. Is that it?
I didn't revive Orochimaru to spite you; do you think I wanted to see him again? You're asking me to have placed you higher than my own goals at the time. You actually genuinely expected that?
I'm well aware of the fact that I didn't always do the right thing or behave the way that I should have. But I did not lie about your brother.
uhhuh
(suigetsu expects the sharingan, it wouldn't be a heated "conversation" without it, but he doesn't rear back or cower, having already submitted his willingness to defend himself. instead, he growls, sharp teeth clicking together like the sneer he made at bee.)
So you can say what you want, Sasuke, but "at the time" and "I was busy" doesn't account for every second we've been on the same team together. I d care if you switch sides, wanna repent for what you've done, or kiss the lying asses of everyone in Konoha! (he never cared who sasuke was allied with, none of them did; they joined him for their own reasons, but his own have been spat on and kabuto isn't here to receive blame.
therefore, the broken dam spills over onto sasuke.)
All I ever did was help you out, especially all the times it came to your brother. More than anyone else ever did! (feels his arm lowering, straightening it out with a tight-jawed resolve,) You never spared a single thought, though, and even now you've got your excuses and think you know everything. Do y'know how many times you told me to shut up so when I had important things to say?
Well, I'm — I've had it with that.
(lowering his face, looking up through pale eyelashes with a dark look, trying his best to detach himself. he remembers the conversation with juugo, under a sheet of rain... and he spoke the truth, always did estrange everyone he met. the water from the washroom taps seems to halt at bare feet and is soaked up silently, no other change.
might as well try it again, if it's going to happen anyway. being alone's the worst, but being around someone who hates you can top that somehow.)
You can shut up for once, if you've only got more words to put me down with!

He only watches when Suigetsu's aim momentarily falters before steadying, pinned next by eyes that seem almost as sharp as his when they have a target in sight. ]
I used you. [ The sudden admission is stated clearly; he refuses to skirt around it. ]
I used you just like you'd planned to use me, and when I was caught up in my goals I didn't think twice about what was more important to me. You continued to help, I continued to focus my eyes elsewhere. I'm not trying to rewrite our history. I don't have any reason to lie to try to improve my standing when I have as many marks on my name as I do.
Do you get it? I'm not telling you to shut up right now and I'm not making excuses. I know what I did. But if you're going to choose to attack me right now I can't afford to make it up to you by letting you succeed.

thinking back to karin, how she almost died, and the way they all keep crawling back and calling themselves a team. what a dysfunctional group of reject experiments. suigetsu's arm lowers in a purposeful gesture now, sick to death of himself — but what else can he do? sasuke's always been far stronger than him, even with all of the bold things he used to say about overcoming him with a sword in hand.
what a joke.)
As if that alone would make it up to me. I'm not the one who tries to kill their teammates. (a bitter spit of an answer despite his head being far from cool, the next flare-up of anger swallowed like acid as he holds an intimidatingly red gaze.) If you actually died, all of the time I spent doing this shit for you'd be wasted. I was happy to be outta that tank, anyway, I think I would've done next to anything for that. I just didn't know I'd end up feeling like I lost more than I gained.
(the instinctual urge to leave is one his mind agrees with, taking a step away from sasuke without turning towards the door, hand back to slap at the button panel. it opens quietly, with a mechanical hum.)
To think I'm alone on this ship with you lot from Konoha is seriously disconcerting.
no subject
No, Suigetsu's never spoken to him like this, but they'd been wrapped up in the constant whirlwind of events that Sasuke's brought up so many times in this very conversation. It doesn't mean the ideas haven't been bouncing around in his head, frustrations slowly building and building, just that the opportunity to lay them out hadn't presented itself.
The cold, detached part of him that he's so carefully cultivated wants to tell Suigetsu to stop being dramatic, that his own betrayals couldn't actually compare to imprisonment with Orochimaru, but for once he holds it back. This is about anger, and if there's anything he understands it should be that. Getting fucked over, for what should be the last time. ]
I doubt we'll be the greatest of your worries here.
We'll discuss my reparations later. If you have further questions about Kabuto or what occurred on the battlefield that you were unable to see, those'll be answered at the same time.

(that's — difficult to admit, yet honest in a way he always has been. to sasuke's credit he helped him find the kubikiribouchou, even though he put him through some inane test to reach it, but that was fun. a doubly selfish day they both benefitted from, a peaceful kind of end to an otherwise hectic chapter. suigetsu doesn't really want the rest to overshadow it... to think he still considers this person a friend.
maybe he really is insane.)
Whatever, I'm going.
(suigetsu glances away from a pair of red eyes and doesn't find them again, turning his shoulder to take the few steps into the hallway and let the door hiss shut behind him. he'll walk, this time, despite having no real destination in mind. it seems like the pipes are bringing him nothing but the trouble he's trying to avoid.)
