// TEST DRIVE MEME_
// TEST DRIVE_ ![]() Welcome to Eluvio's Test Drive Meme! Whether you'd like to try out a character in the setting, get some samples for your application, or just mess around and have fun, this is the place to do it. If you're getting samples together, remember that you need at least four comments made by you in the thread for it to count. Pick any of the scenarios below or make up any of your own. This is space! There are infinite worlds and possibilities. If you'd like to thread out hijacking a ship, do it! If you'd like to get stuck on a remote planet with only one other person for company, do it! Take the wheel and guide your own adventure! The most important thing is to have fun! ➣ SCENARIO 001. ![]() Welcome to Oros! It's no vacation destination and you're in for an interesting ride. While the planet is big, there's not much to explore beyond the vast, stretching reaches of a boiling hot, red desert. Which means it's fun for the whole family! There are hostile aliens on the planet who aren't taking kindly to you, an alien on their planet. They're stronger than you and you're out numbered. Likely out gunned, too. But, really, good luck! You'll be coming back alive. For more information on the planet and things that may be found there, please go here and give it a read! There you can also find the missions completed in game should you need any additional prompt. Whatever you can imagine that fits with the setting itself works! [ PLEASE NOTE: Threads taking place on Oros cannot be used as game canon, as they required prior signups to participate, but the setting is provided so that you can get an idea of just one of the kinds of events that will be in game! ] ➣ SCENARIO 002. ![]() Congratulations! You've been selected to be part of the team being sent down to the planet around which the fleet is currently orbiting. Initial scans of the surface show that oxygen is in abundance, temperatures support carbon-based life-forms, and there aren't any large quantities of poisonous gases that might pose problems. Your mission is to secure a landing site, set up a camp, and locate edible flora and fauna. Stores aboard ship are running a bit low on food and it's projected to be another three weeks before the fleet reaches a station large enough to replenish supplies. Once identified, larger parties will be sent to the surface to help hunt and gather. The good news is, scans show fruits, vegetables, and animals are plentiful. The bad news is that once your ship lands on the planet, everything goes sideways. An unexpected ion storm sweeps through the solar system, shorting out communications between the fleet and the team. It wreaks havoc with the electronics planet-side too, temporarily shorting out the smaller craft's navigational array. Until it passes, about six standard days, you're stuck down there. And the bountiful harvest isn't without its dangers. Even the most docile looking animal will attack. Sampling the fruits and vegetables will cause temporary paralysis, hallucinations, and psychosis. Inhaling pollen will bring out a person's baser instincts. The planet itself is predatory, you see. Everything on it has evolved to entice visitors from nearby systems and kill them. And the fleet's unwittingly taken the bait. ➣ SCENARIO 003. ![]() It's been a rough day. Everything's going wrong. Machines are breaking down everywhere. The owner of your favorite business wasn't there today and the store was closed when you stopped by to pick something up. A coworker didn't show up for work, leaving you with an interested workload. And now it feels like you're being watched. It started about ten minutes ago, but whenever you turn to look, there's no one there. The feeling doesn't go away, though. No matter where you are, it feels like eyes are watching. Did you hear something? A quiet, scuffling scratching sound just for a second? Maybe you did. Maybe you didn't. But it came from the misshapen monstrosity that just punched a hole through the bulkhead right beside you. The creature makes a low, wet gargling noises and darts toward you: six to seven feet tall, vaguely humanoid, and covered in strange growths over which is stretched bubbling grayish-brown skin. Maybe you notice tatters of familiar clothing hanging off of it. Or there's enough left of its eyes to recognize the shape and color. Or maybe something about the noises it's making sound familiar. It's your missing coworker and it looks like the unfortunate soul ran afoul of that weird slimy creature the science team brought back from that jungle planet a month ago. The good news: you can kill it. The bad news: it can kill you. It's fast, it's hungry, and it reproduces at an alarming rate. A single bite can transfer the parasites in its bloodstream to you. Then you'll be just like your buddy. And that shop owner you like so much. And all of the people on Level 12. And... ➣ SCENARIO 004. ![]() You're welcomed and encouraged to make up your own scenarios. As you can see, there will be a wide variety of the types of things your character will encounter in this game. So feel free to make your starters as horrific, sexy, lighthearted, action-packed, or slice of life as you'd like. Make up a planet, make up a location on the Eluvio, make up a ship in the fleet, fight off a zombie alien invasion, there's no limit to what you can do on the TDM. |
Uchiha Obito | Naruto
[ Obito doesn't seem to have been pulling his weight around camp. He's been lounging for the most part, quietly observing other workers and has made no indication that he plans on getting up off his butt to perform the tasks everyone has been given. Do you dare approach the six foot tall man and lecture him for his laziness? Or do you want to be encouraging and give him something to do.
Either way, you'll have to
catch him outside how bout datfind him first. You might have noticed him earlier, but he's quick and doesn't stay in one place for very long. If you're determined, maybe you can corner him while he's sitting on a branch high up in a tree or leaning up against something, watching someone else work.Could he be a pervert? ]
SCENARIO THREE
[ However dire the situation might have been moments ago for your character, they'll find themselves able to rest easy now that the commotion is slowly dying down. Whether they were fighting, hiding, or have coincidentally just come across the scene, it isn't quite clear what happened. There had been an attack, a monster, and then suddenly it was all over. The monster had collapsed, spewing bile and blood over any who'd been within splashing distance.
Obito is perched up on the beast, helmet obscuring his face from onlookers warily toeing around the fallen monster. The only thing that separates him from the rest of the uniform-clad workers is the black shakujo resting against his shoulder. It might not even be clear if he is the one responsible for slaying the predator, since he has nothing to show for it besides the streak of blood spattered across the glass in front of his face.
This is an embarrassing starter I hate Uchihas. ]
WILDCARD
[ Come at me. ]
wildcard, you can't control me
That's what sees him to the med bay, pushing his way past the staff with a confidence that earns him minimal questioning and a cot to himself in the back. Water, bandages... alcohol? There must be something here that he can use.
He's busy enough tending to himself that he doesn't sense the presence as quickly as he might normally, but Sasuke still jerks to his feet with a kunai immediately gripped in his hand as soon as he does, wheeling around to face someone he knows isn't one of those doctors. No. It's a goddamn ghost. ]
... how-- [ This isn't an illusion, not when red eyes are keen to pierce one. ]
What the hell are you doing here? I watched you die.
no subject
And to Sasuke's credit, Obito does literally appear out of thin air, shape warping into full view moments before he jolts into a ready position. He remains unflinching against the threat of the kunai brandished before him, too preoccupied with studying the boy's chakra signature through red-rimmed pupils. It hasn't changed much from the last time he saw him -- before his death -- so he can safely assume that he was taken here shortly afterwards.
His eyes soften as his sharingan fades, brow heavy with quiet sympathy for his ... missing arm. He moves to take a seat on the cot adjacent from Sasuke's, placing a decent amount of distance between the two of them. ]
I'd been under the impression that I was dead as well. Seeing you here had me worried that you might have had the same fate. [ But his reaction poses as a contradiction to this suspicion. Fortunately. ]
I trust that you and Naruto managed to defeat her. [ He cocks his head slightly, gaze flickering to the haphazardly bandaged stub. at his side. ]
Though, I see that your victory wasn't without its sacrifices.
no subject
The obvious allusion to his loss causes him to tense nigh imperceptibly, eyes retaining only veins of red now as he activates the mangekyou as further precaution. ]
I'm still alive and we finished what you started, if you meant to actually phrase any of that as a real question.
no subject
Well he's not wrongObito holds Sasuke's stare, unwavering and steady as he confronts the fury welling up in his eyes head on. It isn't so much challenging as it is his way of showing respect, because turning away would be too easy. Just as dying had been.
Sorry would be too empty of an offering, even pointless in the grand scheme of things. His past actions are irrevocable and showing remorse or regret might even seem like a slap in the face for someone so affected. Sasuke was -- is a victim and to approach him like this is bold, maybe even selfish, but he has done so partly out of concern for the boy. Having gotten to know him, he can just imagine what kind of headspace he's in. ]
I wasn't sure if you'd confirm whether or not my assumptions were correct. I thought I'd be positive.
[ A bit of ironic humour, but it's muted. ]
What now, Sasuke?
[ He's well aware that Sasuke doesn't owe it to him to share his plans. He's prepared for the likely scenario where he doesn't receive a concrete answer.
Maybe even Sasuke doesn't know what he's going to do. That wouldn't be surprising. ]
http://i1.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/082/456/Okay.png
Glad you expended the effort to show your positivity. [ And of course "glad" is a word choice that's so far off the mark as to be laughable, but then again so is Obito's response. Highlighting that doesn't really give him any kind of joy but he can at least endeavor to clarify their positions. This is not a friendly relationship. ]
You're asking me that? The burden of that decision shouldn't be on me, and it's not anything you're owed. You're the one being given a more drastic second chance here.
Understand that if you use it poorly, you'll be corrected. [ This is a very not subtle threat, too. ]
it isn't your job to post that!! smacks you.
Obito wrote the book on being a touchy Uchiha, okay.Being lectured by another person is strange to say the least, especially when that person happens to be someone who he'd manipulated in the past. But the threat is well-deserved, all things considered. Sasuke doesn't have an obligation to trust him, let alone tolerate his presence.
To let his threat have its intended impact, he stays quiet, letting the silence drag out (he bows his head at one point, looking away before turning his attention back to Sasuke) before he speaks up again. ]
I suppose you could call it that; a second chance, that is. But I happen to think that it's only borrowed time. I'm still a dead man, Sasuke. I know what lies ahead of me after all of this.
[ The afterlife, if you could call it that. He tries not to let regret saturate his expression too much, but it's there. He doesn't want to be here. ]
I won't waste this opportunity, though. I'll see to it that you're returned home shortly. If that's what you want.
Until then, you can rely on my strength should you ever need to. I only exist now to continue to repent for what I've done. [ It's an offering, one that he expects will be ignored. Sasuke is a proud man, which is exactly why Obito will have to work in the shadows if he intends to help him at all. If he does a good job, Sasuke won't notice he's done anything at all. ]
I might be able to do something about your arm, if you're interested
too late
He'd resigned himself to the fact that he'd be the only Uchiha left and had been, supposedly, only seeming to learn of new extensions along the family tree when it had become necessary for him to kill them. Obito, Madara... It'd be easier for his family's skeletons to stay buried but they keep coming back to haunt him, trapped in the past even when he's finally trying to look to the future. It's infuriating. ]
Is that how it is?
Is that why you chose to appear here, to have this conversation with me? I'm not here to help you sort out your guilt but if I need to use any skills that you have that I don't, I don't doubt my ability to find you. Although...
Have you noticed any limitations placed upon your jutsu? Crossing dimensions may not be so simple a task. [ Because that's a fuckin' simple task; I hate Naruto. ]
no subject
Being alive now isn't a gift. It's more like a curse, and one that will haunt his victims rather than give them any peace or closure. He can only hope that other ninja from their world won't have to be brought here and be confronted with his existence.
There are more pressing matters to tend to than the heavy weight of guilt on his shoulders, however. And Obito trusts that Sasuke is capable of distancing himself from their past enough that he can make use of a potential alliance. Just as they had before, they now have a common enemy. ]
Yes. It's quite impressive, actually. Whoever has placed these limitations must be formidable. It's something we should keep in mind before doing anything hasty. [ He fully expects Sasuke to give him some kind of retort, pointing out that he doesn't need to be directed or coddled.
He's pretty predictable. Which worries Obito, unless he's had some convenient character development since the last he saw him. ]
Finding a way to lift those limitations will take patience, for one thing. If I discover anything that may be of use or value to you, I will be sure to contact you.
For now, I suppose it would be wise to cooperate...

sombra lifts her hand, the door panel a foot away from pink fingernails slamming closed, lock hissing. that should do it for securing the bulkhead until engineering finds the breach, sighing fog into the visor of her own helmet with a curt tsk.)
Y'know... (comes the reply, one shake of her boot to rid it of tar-like blood,) you could have contained this mess better.

And yeah, there's no reason for him to be sitting, but the floor is a complete mess and he has to make do with what's around. Don't hassle an old man for deciding to park his ass... ]
Were you sent here for clean-up? I suppose you're expecting an apology, then. [ He shifts his attention to the woman toying her foot around the blood. ]

Could have doesn't mean should have, stranger. You think I care about tidying this place up? (please, this ship can implode with her on it for all she cares at the moment, a subtle eccentricity to her step when she continues to walk forward into more of the mess.) There are people for that. But I guess "clean-up" has another definition...

There are more where this one came from, I imagine. So your trip isn't totally wasted.

[ His drawl takes on a lighter pitch, suggesting a note of amusement... Because he's fucked up. He shares her glance, briefly, before he's bowing his head and moving to get up to his feet. Standing... on the beast. It shifts under his weight displacing and a squealch can be heard as innards are squeezed between the body and the floor. ]
So the fewer who venture up there, the better. [ A pointed look... He can't be sure if she'll only get in the way. He also doesn't want to have to kill her if she gets bitten.
Ladies, this guy's totally single. ]

sombra watches him squish around in the creature's corpse with a jim halpert stare before turning away when he looks over at her. ugh. whether this weirdo comes with her or not, she's meandering towards the exit, fully ready to shut the door behind her. gotta contain the infection...)
Then you'd better stay here. (a wry retort, gun on her shoulder as she offers him an unbothered shrug.)

If he's noticed Obito watching him, he shows absolutely no sign of it. But they both know better. Kakashi is very much aware of his presence, he's just fine with keeping the situation as is and pretending that he doesn't know for now. Things are ... awkward between them. As awkward as things can be when your friend tried to take over the world, died, reconciled after the fact and was then found alive again while trapped in space. It's been strange, to say the least.
Still, a part of him does want to reach out because— well, how can he not want to when Obito has been such a huge influential force on the course of his life? He can't ignore him nor does he actually want to.
Which is why, after he's caught a fair number of fish to bring back to camp plus two extra to cook on the fire he's set up nearby, he turns around and holds up his latest catch, casually calling out and to the unobservant eye seemingly addressing the tree that's there like a madman. ]
Want some?
no subject
He's hesitant to approach him. It's easier to keep a distance and keep a watchful eye on his old friend, which is almost too reminiscent of his habits as a teenager (he remembers lingering longer than he should have in Konoha, curious about Kakashi's progress as a ninja - he got over it in due time because the risk of getting caught wasn't worth sating his obsession). In his head, while he observes Kakashi go about his business, he mulls over ideas on how to have him sent back home, where he belongs. He's even a little annoyed that Kakashi seems content working when he should be worrying about returning to Konoha and fulfilling his duties as Hokage.
He's Hokage, isn't he?
At some point, Obito realizes that Kakashi has caught on, but he doesn't come out from behind the tree until he's deliberately called to. How funny. Didn't something like this happen when they were kids? He leaps down to the ground effortlessly once he realizes keeping distance between them would be... well, uncomfortable. Might as well get this over with. ]
Save it for someone who actually needs to eat. [ His voice takes on a snide sort of lilt. He won't mention that just because he doesn't need to eat, doesn't mean he can't. ]
The white zetsu sustains me on its own. [ His left hand shifts over to his other side, gripping his right arm lightly. Beneath the black fabric of his uniform, the stark white build of his arm isn't visible, but the gesture is intended to be a reminder of its existence. ]
I can help. [ Not that he knows how to cook, but it doesn't look hard. He'll just fucking copy Kakashi's techniques with the sharingan. ] Not that you need it.
[ Mister Chef. ]
no subject
It doesn't help that he still can't quite reconcile the boy he knew, the idealized picture he's painted of him over the years of talking to a memorial stone, and the man that is now physically standing in front of him who went against everything his younger self once stood for. Thinking back on it, they were never even truly friends. Their friendship had only really begun the day Obito supposedly died and that adds to the uncertainty of the whole situation.
But he's trying here — after all, shouldn't the real thing be better than a ghost and a cold slab of stone? — and that has to count for ... something.
He raises an eyebrow at the snide tone, unperturbed after having had Sasuke as a student and realizing that it's an Uchiha thing with Itachi's polite demeanor really having been the exception to the norm. He follows the gesture with his eyes and it's not like he forgot, but ... ]
Just because you don't have to eat, doesn't mean that you can't. [ If Obito won't mention it, then Kakashi will. He's changed in many ways, but his penchant for effectively calling out bullshit when he sees it hasn't. ] Does it?
[ At least he's more gracious enough now to offer an out, should Obito feel the need to keep being stubborn and lie. The question is accompanied with a slight questioning head-tilt before he shrugs his shoulders and turns away to move toward the fire. ]
Can you even cook?
[ It's not asked in a mean-spirited way. It's just that Obito has had the white zetsu sustaining him since he was a kid so obviously there hadn't been a need to learn. ]
no subject
They can't go back to how they used to be, though a part of him yearns for something familiar, something to hold onto while they clumsily try to find footing with one another. ]
What does it matter? [ He produces a kunai from his pocket as he makes his way down to the river, feet treading over water and supporting his weight by a layer of chakra sticking to his heels. The least he can do is gut and prepare the fish for Kakashi. ]
How hard can it be? [ He flips the bladed weapon over his hand expertly as his eyes flash, shifting from their normal, deep black colour to a vivid red. A little dramatic for cooking fish, but the Uchiha have a flare for theatrics. ] I'll catch my own to start off with. And then I'll copy your technique.
no subject
They're very different people from how they used to be, making it impossible to fall back into the same dynamic that they once had. This exchange is reminiscent of that though, and it's familiar ground that he can roll with. At least it's a start in finding some sort of new equilibrium between them.
He watches Obito go, resisting the urge to point out that cooking can, in fact, be quite difficult when there are those who dedicate their entire lives to mastering the art of it. The theatrics are a little harder to pass up on however, his faint amusement bleeding through in his tone of voice. ]
You hardly need the Sharingan for that.
[ Neither catching the fish nor learning how to prepare it require the use of a doujutsu; it's overkill.
But he'll leave Obito to it while he goes to set things up. Rather than settling for anything as crude as spearing the fish on a stick and calling it a day, he has come prepared with a pan and some utensils that he swiped from the ship which he retrieves from his backpack. Being Hokage means being stuck in an office for majority of the time, buried underneath piles of paperwork, so it's nice to be able to enjoy mundane things like fishing and cooking outdoors again. It's one of the few good things about being accidentally kidnapped into space. ]
no subject
Plus, ] I don't want to have to listen to your shitty, half-assed step-by-step instructions.
[ He grins at the other man, deciding to leave him to his own devices and focus on his own task. Catching fish is the easy part, but he'll take the extra time needed to search for one bigger than anything Kakashi's managed to dredge up from the rushing water.
When he spots the perfect specimen, he crouches low to take his attack. A kunai is launched first before he follows up with an under-water tackle.
He's very extra.
But it's a big fish. Kakashi will definitely notice when Obito emerges from the river, drenched, and lugging a ten-eyed, tentacled monstrosity over his shoulder. ]
no subject
Maybe some things don't have to change, no matter the time or selves lost.
He'll hold on to that small hope that things don't have to be so agonizingly awkward between them as he neatly lays out his supplies. He briefly wanders away to find a smooth stone big enough to prep his fish on in lieu of a kitchen counter-top, but he makes it back in time to witness Obito emerging from the river with a— well, something that can only be called a fish if one considers every creature that lives in water to be a fish. Which is to say it hardly seems like a fish at all.
Kakashi can only stare. ]
... Is that even edible?
[ It has way too many eyes to even look the slightest bit palatable. Obito, why? ]
two, forgive me i am rusty
When she first saw Obito, she hadn't believed it. A trick of the heat (except it really wasn't that hot), or someone who looked like him (with those scars?), maybe. It's been a weird day all told, but somehow she thought that without Kabuto around the dead would, you know, stay that way. She has mixed feelings about him being here, but most of those feelings evaporate once it becomes clear that he's avoiding her. Or at least it feels that way.
Figures he would turn up (sort of) when she's out looking for fruit alone.
Maybe it's because she's already on edge like any rational human being would be to end up in a place like this so abruptly. Maybe she is just irritated he's been giving her the slip. Either way, his silent presence irrationally annoys her.
So without any sort of warning or acknowledgement, she scoops up a rock and chucks it at him.
Well, not quite at him. She aims for and nails the branch he's sitting on. She's not trying to hit him, she's making a point. ]
when are you ever rusty, you nerd
He's surprised that Sakura has actively sought him out. He thought he was being considerate by staying out of her way.
Like the annoying godmod he is, all he has to do is reach out to catch the rock with his prosthetic hand. There might not have been any chakra packed into her throw, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
The jig is up. Looking over his shoulder, acknowledges her with a nod of his head, before leaping down from the tree. He tosses the rock up and down in his hand, giving Sakura a moment to collect herself before he starts to approach her. He can't really gauge her feelings surrounding his being here. She's likely confused, but he's more interested in what's beyond that. Is she angry? Disgusted by his presence? ]
Sorry. Was that meant for my head? [ HAHA... AWKWARD JOKE. He smiles despite himself, eyes softening with fondness. ]
