// TEST DRIVE MEME_
// TEST DRIVE_ ![]() Welcome to Eluvio's Test Drive Meme! Whether you'd like to try out a character in the setting, get some samples for your application, or just mess around and have fun, this is the place to do it. If you're getting samples together, remember that you need at least four comments made by you in the thread for it to count. Pick any of the scenarios below or make up any of your own. This is space! There are infinite worlds and possibilities. If you'd like to thread out hijacking a ship, do it! If you'd like to get stuck on a remote planet with only one other person for company, do it! Take the wheel and guide your own adventure! The most important thing is to have fun! ➣ SCENARIO 001. ![]() Welcome to Oros! It's no vacation destination and you're in for an interesting ride. While the planet is big, there's not much to explore beyond the vast, stretching reaches of a boiling hot, red desert. Which means it's fun for the whole family! There are hostile aliens on the planet who aren't taking kindly to you, an alien on their planet. They're stronger than you and you're out numbered. Likely out gunned, too. But, really, good luck! You'll be coming back alive. For more information on the planet and things that may be found there, please go here and give it a read! There you can also find the missions completed in game should you need any additional prompt. Whatever you can imagine that fits with the setting itself works! [ PLEASE NOTE: Threads taking place on Oros cannot be used as game canon, as they required prior signups to participate, but the setting is provided so that you can get an idea of just one of the kinds of events that will be in game! ] ➣ SCENARIO 002. ![]() Congratulations! You've been selected to be part of the team being sent down to the planet around which the fleet is currently orbiting. Initial scans of the surface show that oxygen is in abundance, temperatures support carbon-based life-forms, and there aren't any large quantities of poisonous gases that might pose problems. Your mission is to secure a landing site, set up a camp, and locate edible flora and fauna. Stores aboard ship are running a bit low on food and it's projected to be another three weeks before the fleet reaches a station large enough to replenish supplies. Once identified, larger parties will be sent to the surface to help hunt and gather. The good news is, scans show fruits, vegetables, and animals are plentiful. The bad news is that once your ship lands on the planet, everything goes sideways. An unexpected ion storm sweeps through the solar system, shorting out communications between the fleet and the team. It wreaks havoc with the electronics planet-side too, temporarily shorting out the smaller craft's navigational array. Until it passes, about six standard days, you're stuck down there. And the bountiful harvest isn't without its dangers. Even the most docile looking animal will attack. Sampling the fruits and vegetables will cause temporary paralysis, hallucinations, and psychosis. Inhaling pollen will bring out a person's baser instincts. The planet itself is predatory, you see. Everything on it has evolved to entice visitors from nearby systems and kill them. And the fleet's unwittingly taken the bait. ➣ SCENARIO 003. ![]() It's been a rough day. Everything's going wrong. Machines are breaking down everywhere. The owner of your favorite business wasn't there today and the store was closed when you stopped by to pick something up. A coworker didn't show up for work, leaving you with an interested workload. And now it feels like you're being watched. It started about ten minutes ago, but whenever you turn to look, there's no one there. The feeling doesn't go away, though. No matter where you are, it feels like eyes are watching. Did you hear something? A quiet, scuffling scratching sound just for a second? Maybe you did. Maybe you didn't. But it came from the misshapen monstrosity that just punched a hole through the bulkhead right beside you. The creature makes a low, wet gargling noises and darts toward you: six to seven feet tall, vaguely humanoid, and covered in strange growths over which is stretched bubbling grayish-brown skin. Maybe you notice tatters of familiar clothing hanging off of it. Or there's enough left of its eyes to recognize the shape and color. Or maybe something about the noises it's making sound familiar. It's your missing coworker and it looks like the unfortunate soul ran afoul of that weird slimy creature the science team brought back from that jungle planet a month ago. The good news: you can kill it. The bad news: it can kill you. It's fast, it's hungry, and it reproduces at an alarming rate. A single bite can transfer the parasites in its bloodstream to you. Then you'll be just like your buddy. And that shop owner you like so much. And all of the people on Level 12. And... ➣ SCENARIO 004. ![]() You're welcomed and encouraged to make up your own scenarios. As you can see, there will be a wide variety of the types of things your character will encounter in this game. So feel free to make your starters as horrific, sexy, lighthearted, action-packed, or slice of life as you'd like. Make up a planet, make up a location on the Eluvio, make up a ship in the fleet, fight off a zombie alien invasion, there's no limit to what you can do on the TDM. |

... Aren't we the aliens, here?
[Slumping against the rock, Cloud grimaces softly. Better than saying they look pretty similar to the creatures and monsters at home, at least?]
no subject
... Huh... [ Well, he certainly hadn't paused to think of that, now had he? Technically, since he was on their planet, yes, he was an alien, but that was kind of blowing his mind if he's at all honest with himself. The braided teen takes a moment more to think that over before giving a little nod. ]
Man, I guess you're right. Technically since I'm on that guy's planet, I'm the alien. But since I've never seen someone like him before, then he's kinda an alien too.. [ A pause, he peeks momentarily over the rock again - ] If it's a he, to be fair.
no subject
Wouldn't get closer to ask, if I were you. We don't know how they'll react... or what they can do.
[They're not the largest creatures he's ever seen, but they look kind of sturdy, and who knows if they can do stuff like poison or throw around elemental attacks.]
They, kind of, remind me of a few things from home. But it's still... weird.
[Cloud didn't mean to say that, mostly because it just drives home the point of how far away he currently is, and the fact that this is an alien planet.]
no subject
I wasn't really planning on it, it's just, you know, I've been to mars and stuff before and never got to see an alien, so like.. hello, childhood goals of getting so deep in to space you see an alien... [ Yes, Duo had big dreams as a kid - but it was better than focusing on being hungry or whatever the problem of the moment was, right? He had to be a little imaginative to get himself out of there, and it just seems to have stuck around.
The blond saying something about them reminding him of things from home gets an inquisitive glance, at the very least, pulling his long braid of hair over his shoulder before questioning - ]
Really? You have things like that? I've never seen anythin' like that..
no subject
[And, frankly, looked more weird than these. Shaking his head, Cloud's not sure that's... particularly interesting, actually. Wonders, with a glance aside, if he'd be okay if... Well, he's been friendly enough.]
You've... been to other planets? Before we ended up here? [He can't really imagine that, and while Cloud don't move from where he's leaning against the rock, and definitely torn between turning to Duo and keeping an eye on the creatures, he's certainly curious.]
no subject
Oh ... sounds like deep sea creatures back home.. Or cave fish.. [ He'd taken the time to get some reading done while he could - after the war he'd have to have more education than how to infiltrate and blow things up, after all. Even if it was minimal and self taught he'd have to know at least part of something. Even if it was something a little self taught it was better than absolutely nothing at all.
Still, he'd practically entranced by these four legged aliens - they seemed so... well, alien and new and he so badly wanted to approach but also didn't want to get stomped. ]
Yeah.. Mars, the Moon base... nothing too incredibly far out from Earth and definitely nothing like this...
Well that's kinda a lie. Mars is red like this but no aliens..
no subject
Well, space travel's kinda... plenty impressive, even if the planet's close.
[Glancing up at the sky above them, even if the edge of the helmet is in the way, Cloud shakes his head. That's an alien sky, and the rock and cracked earth beneath their feet isn't just Midgar's wasteland or even the Corel desert... It's somewhere else entirely, and he's been on a space ship for the last few days. It's a little hard to take in, honestly.]

I'll even give you a discount for having your priorities right.

Dude, you are a life saver. Jughead, though? That's a hell of a name!
I'll remember it though - makes it easy. I'll be easy to find though I guess.. usually I'm the only guy with a few feet of hair in any joint much less a space craft..

Are you a cousin It situation or what's happening here. With your hair.
no subject
I dunno, I just don't like cutting it, so I don't! I keep it all tied up though, so no Cousin It situation here..
Plus I mean.. you can keep a lot of stuff in a braid.

... If it helps to clarify, I mean the United States of America, which is a country that is fairly young and exists on the planet Earth, in the... some solar system. In the Milky Way.
network | un: maxwell
Yes. All of that. Extra on the greasy and cheesy.
I've been there before, once, just kinda breezin' through. Should'a stopped there more than Brussels, honestly, food's much better. Still prefer the colonies, if we're gonna be particular.
no subject
( ... which means he's walking there right now, since any ping will be sent from his physical location, since... that's what he knows how to do. )
Brussels, who wants to be in Brussels? Though I can't say "the colonies" means anything to me. You might be timed later than 2016, or from another universe altogether. Most everything's been colonized and reclaimed or traded off on Earth from what I know.
no subject
You're a savior, man. A burger savior. Yuy would sit and fume a tme if he saw the mass of fries and meat I'm about to shove in my face but what the hell do I care?
I mean.. Preventers is gonna be based there and probably the ESUN too so.. anyone who's anyone in government? You know, the chubby old guy who have pretentious waxed mustaches and lots of pins for their jackets.
Side note - you're from the stone age man. 2016 was forever ago.. way before the space colonies got sent up. Year's A.C. 196 last I checked.
no subject
( walking, strolling, reaching down to pet Makkachin and — hah! tiny delicious burger place he'd gone to with Eichi and Yuuri weeks before. he sends the ping to his present location to Duo's username. )
AC does not stand for Air Conditioning, correct. 2016 was A.D., for what that's worth. Before that, the Gregorian calendar referred to the world as B.C.
It's amusing to think of Brussels as being the governmental seat. For what? Has Earth unified by then?
no subject
Nah - Heero's not here that I could tell. I haven't seen Wing around either.
Thanks for the ping, I'll check it out!
After Colony = AC.
Well, Earth and Space have. ESUN = Earth Sphere Unified Nation. So far as I know Earth's countries are still their own individual power houses.

Other than it's awesome? And my Gundam is painted black too and I'm really in to the whole look of a mech that's painted that way.... I mean I guess I didn't choose Deathscythe's paint job but black is kind of my thing...
I'm a nerd I guess, I wonder if the controls differ from my Gundam and all that kinda stuff.

It's a mobile suit ... a uh.. fighting robot made in a more human like form?
I guess that's the best way I can describe it

No I haven't, but the name sounds pretty amazing. Like Tallgeese or Epyon.
Is it around here somewhere? I'd wanna see how Deathscythe measures up power wise.
