[Scenario 003] [Maes Hughes did not feel like dying again. It was bad enough he'd arrived here, practically bleeding out, but that just meant he had to fight ten times harder because like hell was he going through THAT pain again. The other point was that he didn't want to die at the hands of a freak -- not like last time.
So the fact that he's running for his life while two, gurgling monstrosities chase him, is not exactly the highlight of his day. He doesn't bother even looking over his shoulder, just slides into a turn and bolts down the hall, hoping to shake them.
There's a crashing sound behind him -- so no such luck.]
WHERE THE HELL ARE THE WEAPONS ON THIS SHIP AGAIN!
[He's running so fast he nearly misses the door that's a crack. He's taken another hallway and he has just enough time to slip inside -- the creatures charging past and missing him entirely. Maes collapses, breathing hard but also trying to keep his noise level down. He doesn't notice that someone else is already occupying this room...]

[Scearnio 004] [Maes Hughes had no idea what he was looking at. He was intelligent, sure, but give a guy from the equivalent of the 1930s anything beyond a cellphone and he'd probably be baffled too. The Tech department had attempted to explain it, and Maes had been listening, but then he'd started asking what would probably be considered basic questions at about a mile a minute and so eventually they'd just told him to start poking at it and leave them alone because they needed to work on gravity boosters or whatever.
Maes had lost interest at about the time they'd said to 'Just press buttons' because he wasn't opposed to trial by error.
So, there he was, sitting on a bench in one of the atrium's poking at the wrist communicator.]
