he's a paladin of freaking voltron, after all! which means he's got experience, he's got knowledge, and he's got freaking talent to do this kind of thing and do it well. he and blue could take on entire armes, have taken on entire armies, so what was the harm in going on a mission to a seemingly peaceful planet and securing a landing site?

easy peasy.

you know, until it's not.

but that's the thing - lance is also used to seemingly peaceful planets turning around and kind of totally freaking destroying you. granted, his experience with that tends to lend towards galra fighters and galra ships and galra armies, a whole crew of aliens he's pretty decently awesome at actually fighting. but the planet itself? from the grass to the trees to the actual air around him? all trying to kill him?

that was new.

new, but not impossible. because nothing is impossible. even if it's just him and a couple of other people who are way in out of their league on a murderous angry planet and- you know, suddenly he understands what hunk meant when he said that killer food was his worst nightmare. never in his life did he think that an entire planet's flora and fauna would both, simultaneously, try to kill him. and yet here they are. ]

[ lance stumbles a bit as he kicks at a vine reaching out to wrap around his leg. they're trying to check down the next ridge, looking for something - anything - that could be a little cleaner. so far, nothing. but lance is about to let the rest of the crew continue on without him. ] Hold on a sec!
